How to get free advertising on almost any blog

Written by Malin on June 19, 2007 – 2:00 pm -

This tip is pretty obvious actually. To get some free advertising on almost any blog, you only have to sign up at all those community services (MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, etc) who provides widgets that everyone can put up on their blogs.

Create a catchy (and most importantly eye catching) and cool avatar. And then, if you’re logged in, your avatar will pop up on every site that has these widgets on them.

The downside with this method is that when someone clicks on your avatar, they will only get to your community page and not your site. That’s why you need a catchy and noticable avatar. Why not write your domain name on it?

As I was about to write this obvious tip, Kumiko, at Kumiko’s Cash Quest, posted about the same subject on her site; “How to get free advertising on top blogs“. However, her version is a little more evil, but I like it ;)

Yes it is a good way of advertising your blog. It must work because I get visitors from Blogcatalog all the time and less often mybloglog. Another site to sign up with is BumpZee.com it’s similar to the first two but the communities are much more interactive and I think the links there follow too!

I also like the widgets on my site because I can see who’s been visiting me recently. :)

I’m commenting not only because I liked the post but also to check to see if your links follow so I can add you to the do follow blogroll. :)

Thanks for the comment! You are first one so congratulations! ;)

I have thought about joining BumpZee but never got around to do it. I guess I’m heading over there right now! :)

That’s all true and such but I think having your actual LINK on a site is a lot better. ;)
