Wordpress 2.5 is out!

WordPress 2.5 is out now! And it has been available for an hour or so. I’m going to upgrade one of my sites to see how it goes, I’m quite curious!

Remember to backup your files before you upgrade!

Preparing for WordPress 2.5

WordPress version 2.5 is said to be released today, there are a few hours left, but I still haven’t seen anything. I think it will be delayed though.

Anyway, it is time to prepare for the update! As we all know by know, the new version might not work with all plugins or themes.
Lorelle VanFossen has written a really nice WordPress Upgrade Preparation Checklist. If you are not sure where to start, the list will be valuable to you!

The list includes steps like checking compatibilities, doing a PreFlight test, disable and/or remove old plugins and the most important step of all - BACKUP!

Tip of the day: Wordpress Theme Hacks

I just wanted to share with everyone a great post from Nick La (who also runs N.Design Studio) on Web Designer Wall. It’s called WordPress Theme Hacks and features some great tips and tricks to do with your WordPress site or blog. I already knew some of them and there were others I haven’t even thought of!
So go ahead and read it, it will probably be very useful to you!

Another subject: Is it only me or are you also missing the “Page Template” tab in the right column when writing posts and pages? I kind of miss it! Sometimes I want to use a different style to some of my posts and the “Page Template” tab was pretty useful.

Don’t forget to update WordPress!

WordPress 2.2.3 is out, so don’t forget to update! And for us cool people that uses InstantUpgrade it will be done in seconds! :D

A WordPress plugin that will make you happy!

There is a WordPress plugin out there that is called InstantUpgrade. When it first came out I was a bit suspicious, I thought that it probably wouldn’t work and that it would ruin my WordPress installation. So I kept updating WordPress manually. The result of manually upgrading is mostly sweat and tears.

What does it do?
The InstantUpgrade plugin downloads the latest WordPress version from the WordPress server and unpacks it at your server.

I have changed my mind. Thank goodness for this plugin! I installed it on both my sites and upgraded them to version 2.2.2 with it. It worked like a charm. No sweat and tears! People, this is the plugin that will make you save time and sweat!

But remember, always do backups of both your files and databases just in case!
