The most wonderful thing with WordPress is the wide range of plugins you can add. And you can get them to do almost everything for your blog. Here are 5 WordPress plugins that I can’t live without!

  • WP-DBManager - This plugin is for more advanced users. With this plugin you can optimize, repair, backup, restore, delete backups, drop/empty tables and run selected queries. Very useful!
  • SRG Clean Archives - I look at my archives quite often and I think it’s good to have a useful and clean looking archive! This plugin will do the trick!
  • PlugInstaller - With this plugin you don’t have to download a plugin, upload it to your FTP server and unpack it manually. All you have to do is to add plugin URL in the admin and you’re all set. It will also make your plugin page look cleaner.
  • Exec-PHP - Allows PHP tags inside the content or excerpt of your posts and pages to be executed just as in usual PHP files. Useful if you want to write tutorials and want to show your visitors your PHP coding.

What is RSS?

Written by Malin on June 10th, 2007 -

RSSWhat the heck is RSS?

Newcomers to the blogosphere probably ask this question. And let me help you answer that question!

Here is a quote from the Wikipedia about RSS:

RSS (which, in its latest format, stands for “Really Simple Syndication”) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”, contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that’s easier than checking them manually.

Still quite don’t get it? Here is the best link for you. This site explains RSS in the Oprah way!
